Baltimore pop punk veterans All Time Low have been teasing lots over the last few weeks, from the skull emblem of their Nothing Personal record to the heart emblem of Future Hearts, and today the quartet have finally dropped the first single of their next era.
Some Kind Of Disaster lands with a distinctly more rocky sound that they've played with recently - their last album, 2017's Last Young Renegade, traipsed synth-pop and electronic a little more than their earlier days, but as the band write, "The Young Renegades are no more... Reintroducing your favorite disaster, All Time Low."
Taking to Insta, the band explain, "We took a step away for a minute - did some growing, did some soul searching, some healing... Now we're back and ready to be all yours again, our battle scars worn proudly, and our hair looking better than ever. (it's best if you just agree). We've missed you all so much and we're so excited for what comes next. Feels like we've been keeping secrets from you for way too long... Been hard to keep our mouths shut, honestly.
"It's a song and dance we've done a thousand times before, but this one feels extra-good. Besides, it's never the same dance twice."
The "step away" the guys are talking about refers to singer Alex Gaskarth starting a duo with blink-182's Mark Hoppus called Simple Creatures, even touring Australia recently for Good Things, while guitarist Jack Barakat took on a new project called WhoHurtYou.
It seems like the lads are back in our hearts for good though - let's see what the band put out in 2020.
