Bare-Footed Childish Gambino Returns To triple j's 'Like A Version'

    Gambino

Ah, the sweet sounds of Childish Gambino's fingers clickin' in triple j's Like A Version studio.

Almost four years after Childish Gambino's record-breaking cover of Tamia's So Into You (26 milliion views and counting, it's the most-watched Like A Version triple j have), Donald Glover has returned to triple j to cover Chris Gaines' Lost In You for a special not-on-a-Friday episode.

Who is Chris Gaines, you may ask? As triple j explain, it's country singer Garth Brooks' rock'n'roll alter-ego, not unlike Glover's Gambino alter-ego. The fictitious character was Australian and it allowed Garth Brooks to explore genres he didn't really get to through his country career.

It's not far off what Glover does, too. Childish Gambino has allowed the comedian/director/producer/actor to explore rap, hip hop, funk and R&B, and this cover brings those finger-clicks back along with some heavenly organs and a beautiful set of backing singers.

He's wearing that grey coat we saw live at Splendour In The Grass and with his shoes off, he looks relaxed AF.

Given he's mentioned that this will be the last time he brings Childish Gambino to Australia, this might also be the last time we'll ever see him in the hallowed halls of triple j.

    Soak it up.
