Doja Cat and Billie Eilish are both superstars in their own right, and it turns out the pair go way back - all the way back to the days where they were both rising stars of SoundCloud.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Doja revealed that Billie asked her to feature on what eventually became Bellyache, which featured on Billie's 2017 debut EP Don't Smile At Me. Doja explained, “I remember thinking it was so cute. I loved it.

"I just couldn’t think of anything to write. It was one of my writer’s-block moments. … And I remember seeing that song blow up and thinking, ‘Good for her. That’s awesome.’ I don’t think the song was for me, though. It was quite hard to write to.”

It's been a big year for Doja Cat, releasing her third album, Planet HER. While it doesn't feature Billie, it sees her weaving together elements of pop, R&B and hip-hop, and features appearances from Young Thug, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, JID and SZA.

The lack of a Doja Cat doesn't seem to have hindered Billie Eilish's career (after all, she's now one of the biggest stars on the planet), but we would have loved if this collaboration had come to fruition...
