Donald Glover has sat down for a conversation for GQ with I May Destroy You creator Michaela Coel and it's a wild ride.
Glover has been teasing the retirement of his Childish Gambino project for years, telling a crowd in 2017 that he was going to release one final Gambino album.
Well, that album arrived this year in the form of 3.15.20 and some assumed that it was the last we were going to hear from Gambino. It seems not though.
Coel complimented the album and said she was listening to it a lot in lockdown to which Glover replied, "I still don’t feel like I’m done with that [music] project."
Then, he bypassed the subject and decided to announce that he's been wanting to write a bible.
"This sounds super crazy," he said. "A woman who I go to, almost a shaman, I told her I wanted to write a Bible."
He said that he's been having the feeling that he needs to do it for years but the pandemic has intensified that feeling.
"'Everybody’s stuck inside,' and I’ve been in The Temple listening to this and suddenly I thought, 'Oh, some people will get it'."
He didn't go into detail about what the bible would specifically entail but it's an interesting announcement. One we would've expected from Kanye before Glover but we'll take it nonetheless.
The church of Childish Gambino is now in session.
