Melbourne's Evangeline has shone a spotlight on something every 20-something has experienced at one point or another on her new song Bad Parties - when you're at a crappy party where you feel like you don't belong, and you stay just to make the person you're with happy.
It's a super relatable concept and the singer/songwriter has managed to package it up into a dark pop bop that utilises Fossa Beats' moody production as well as a verse from LA-based rapper Julius. Woozy and warped but simultaneously angelic, Bad Parties feels like the spiritual successor to Kanye's No More Parties In LA (which Julius actually references in his verse).
The video actually juxtaposes the song's dark disposition with sun-drenched vintage camcorder footage of a sunset in LA - it's almost as if the pair have escaped a vapid Hollywood Hills party to soak up the carefree Santa Monica vibes instead.
Evangeline has already worked with the likes of USA's KILLBOY and fellow Aussies Donatachi and LOVER. She's an intriguing addition to the dark pop scene in Australia - keep an eye on her.
