First Night Fever

Unfortunately we couldn’t make it to SXSW this year but luckily for us (and you guys!) we’ve got a few roving reporters out in the field who will be documenting their travels! First up is Asho, Co-manager of Busby Marou who will be keeping a diary of all the boys American & Canadian adventures.

    FIRST NIGHT FEVER.

I strictly adhere to the rule of overseas travel that you need come out of the blocks hard on the first day/night to get your body clock into whack. This means no drinking on the plane despite unlimited temptation and saving my thirst for our arrival in LA.

Today’s gig was the LA Aussie BBQ at the Echo in Echo Park. CHET FAKER got things started but his computer broke and his set was cut shot. I know i am biased but BUSBY MAROU absolutely smashed it with the inimitable Mr Dave Dow bringing the soul grooves to the bass. Their set was short and sharp and full of excitement despite their “first night fever” the previous night. As co-managers Jonesy and I were excitedly clutching albums to hand out to DAWES who were in the audience. We tried to be cool… DAWES are a band from LA that Tom Busby and I are obsessing over and to have them in the audience was a huge buzz. Who knows what could happen from here. As expected the Rocky boys made loads of friends from all walks of life. OH MERCY and DZ DEATHRAYS also played really special sets.

Night one finished on the balcony at the hotel with a sneaky champagne with some mates and falling into a well earned slumber.
