Nowadays, audiences tend to gravitate towards music videos with the most outrageous costumes, the most guest appearances and the most insane video sets. That's all well and good, but sometimes you realise that there's also drama to be made with a stripped back video set, only one outfit but an insanely good concept.
FOALS' new music video for The Runner has basically proved this today, with the four-and-a-half minute video stunning us and fans for its dystopic reality, amazing editing and sense of tension.
Directed by Quentin Deronzier, the video follows frontman Yannis as he battles with his own doppelganger through a variety of settings - they fall in and out of paintings, chase each other through an intergalactic room of lanterns and topple through skies made of silk sheets, all of which morph and turn into entirely different settings before our eyes.
It's surreal, slightly creepy, but totally captivating.
FOALS are due to drop Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Pt 2 in just a few weeks time on October 18th.
In case you missed it, when FOALS were here in July for Splendour In The Grass, they adopted a koala and Cool Accidents were there to catch Jack and Jimmy talking about it.
