Harry Styles released his debut album today (well done Haz), but we need to talk about his interviews.
This is his coming out, his time to talk about himself and unveil who he really is outside of boyband superstardom but he's really doing a shocking job.
Either he's suffering from being media trained within an inch of his life or he's just generally not a very interesting person, he's delivering some super vague answers and journalists are starting to pick up on it.
Styles spoke with NY Times journalist Joe Coscarelli and after it he titled the article, 'Harry Styles Opens Up, Slightly'.
The first count of vagueness comes when Coscarelli asks him about masturbation, something he sings about in the album's final song From The Dining Table ("Played with myself, where were you").
Harry's response: "Is it? Is It?"
"I think we danced around that O.K," Harry acknowledges.
Fine, he doesn't want to talk about masturbation but the real clincher comes when Coscarelli asks him about writing Sign Of The Times at a very turbulent time politically and socially.
This is actually Harry's answer:
"“Sign of the Times,” for me, it’s looking at several different things. ."
Cool Harry but what sort of things?
"Everything you were talking about — just the state of the world at the moment."
Fucking hell. Deep.
You can stream his debut album below. He sings about masturbation and cocaine not that he would admit that.
