It's full circle for Sacramento rapper/poet Hobo Johnson that the Tiny Desk contest video that went viral as hell on YouTube (nearly 10 million views and counting) would finally land them an actual NPR Tiny Desk Concert.
The 15-minute set has just gone online and Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers are as emotive and hilarious and real as always, messing up during Peach Scone, receiving actual peach scones from someone in the audience with real glee, and yelling their outrageously childish lyrics with as much gusto as they can muster (we love when they yell 'GROSS!' in Sex And The City).
why hobo johnson should be your next favourite artist
If you're not across Hobo already, he's a dude from California called Frank Lopes who used to live in his car while working at a pizza joint and who clearly has an insanely great knack at poetry.
Each song is punctuated with emo rock personality, super honest lyrics and a full band that provide a stripped back base for Hobo's lyrics to really take the spotlight.
Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers will be headed to Australia pretty soon to play at Falls Festival this year, as well as Field Day.
