Tame Impala's Kevin Parker has revealed how Rihanna came to cover their song New Person, Same Old Mistakes on her last record ANTI.
While he told Billboard he's never actually met RiRi, he has revealed how one of the biggest pop stars in the world came to know about the Aussie band.
"Someone was telling me that SZA got her into [Tame Impala] -- actually, I think it was Kendrick Lamar," he said.
"I did a session with him once, and he was like, “Oh, do you know how Rihanna got on to your stuff?” I was like, “No.” He was like, “Oh yeah, SZA played it to Rihanna late at night at my session.” She was like, “You’ve gotta check out Tame Impala.”"
Parker actually ended up working with SZA himself. Mark Ronson, SZA and Parker had been recording together but Parker is not sure whether the project will ever see the light of day.
This year, he's worked on music with Kanye West, Travis Scott and A$AP Rocky but there's still one artist he has yet to tick off the bucket list and that's Daft Punk.
"I hold them in absolutely legendary regard. They’re so god-like to me, but I don’t even know what I’d do or how I’d do it with them," he said.
