Australian electronic mainstays SAFIA are getting ready to play Summer Sundown, a night put on by The City Of Parramatta Council in conjunction with Live Nation and Greater Sydney Parklands. It's all happening on January 25th at Parramatta Park, and you won't want to miss this. SAFIA will be performing on a stacked all-Australian line-up, also featuring Touch Sensitive, Alice Ivy and Clypso.
It's been a long time since SAFIA had a chance to play in Greater Sydney, and they couldn't be more pumped. Speaking about the upcoming performance, the trio says, "It's been over 2 years since we've had the opportunity to perform in Greater Sydney so as you can imagine we are extremely excited to just get out there & play! People can expect big production, loud sing-alongs & 3 guys who'll just be happy to do what they love again!"
Ahead of the event, we spoke to SAFIA to get the lowdown on what songs they like to play when the sun's going down. Read on to check out their top five choices - if you're putting together a playlist for the hot evenings ahead, then you'll want to slot these in!
1. Blackbird - Fat Freddy's Drop
This is a song that is a mainstay in all of our playlists. Whenever we're looking to inject any sort of vibe into a situation there's not many better albums than Fat Freddy's Drop's Blackbird. Their brand of dub reggae is honestly the perfect summer sunset soundtrack.
2. The Divine Chord - The Avalanches
The Avalanches' We Will Always Love You is one of my favorite albums of the past few years. It is a true masterpiece that captures something magical the entire way through. Every song is brilliant, but The Divine Chord really captures the glow of a summer sunset.
3. Kyle (I Found You) - Fred again..
This is a relatively new addition to the playlist. It is a gorgeous song that immediately makes you want to sit by the ocean as the sun goes down. No one has quite captured the feeling of the past two years like Fred again... I recommend putting on either or both of his Actual Life albums & having a reflective sunset moment.
4. Feels Like Summer - Childish Gambino
This is probably my favorite Childish Gambino track. There is something timeless about it that captures the heat of a summer's day perfectly. Although its message is quite bleak, it's a good reminder to not take this planet for granted.

5. On Melancholy Hill - Gorillaz
Plastic Beach by Gorillaz is up there as my favorite album & On Melancholy Hill is probably one of my favorite songs from it. It's a timeless song that makes you want to drive alone down Route 66 into the sunset.
