There’s a brand new single out from a monstrously good Melbourne producer (and now vocalist) known as LUCIANBLOMKAMP. Maybe you know him from his juggernaut single Help Me Out from last year, that came with a similarly strong video. Maybe though, you’ve heard either of the two singles he’s released this year, From Afar and the one he released this week Comfort.
Maybe you know the new one because you listened to it today with your special listening ears but maybe you know it because you saw a famous person or a tastemaker or (as the young people and marketing experts who are trying to sell things to young people call them) an ‘influencer’. That’s because Lucian went and orchestrated one of the most clever track teaser campaigns we’ve ever seen here at Cool Accidents. And please remember that one time we got like, a hundred famous cats to colour some chucks and donate them to charity so we know a thing or two about marketing and all that.
Lucian and his management / label team over at Good Manners organized for twelve different Instagram boss dogs (including the likes of the internets busiest fantanoi, teen sensation Japanese Wallpaper, Sydney community radio overlords FBi and even we got a look in) to post a series of twelve Instagram videos that combined to make one collage image of Lucian’s single art and, if played in order, contained the song from the song from start to finish. All of this amazing content unified by the common hashtag #lucianblomkampcomfort. It looked like this:
Pretty perfect right? Almost. It lasted for a minute before human nature took its course and some overseas peanuts decided to dive in on the hashtag to mess with the rhythm of it and we ended up with something that looked more like this. This is what happens when you bring Fantano on board with anything, the ballbags come out of the woodwork. In particular, trip_lizzie who really just wanted to push his free mixtape. It’s a tough old world out there.
Still it lasted long enough to score a perfect ten for creativity and execution and let's be honest, if it gets this incredible song into your ears as it did ours then they've kicked a goal.
