Sydney-via-Melbourne alt-R&B artist JXN is following up his last collab with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie today with another smooth as silk team-up with A$AP Twelvyy called Going Off and we're basically going off about how Jacko Brazier keeps killing it song after song.
Like Solitude and Red Lights, it's minimalist and atmospheric as we've come to expect from the rising artist with a trappy beat and a super hooky chorus. Twelvyy's got bars too as he tackles the second verse.
We caught up with JXN to catch up on what it was like working with Bronx rapper and if we can expect even more hip hop collabs.
You can also look forward to catching JXN live on the Allday tour nationally this August with E^ST and Mallrat.
What’s A$AP Twelvyy like to hang out with?
He’s a genuine down to earth legend. Huge respect for him and his music and he had nothing but good things to say about my project. I love the guy.
What was the process like writing Going Off with him and what’s the song about?
I actually wrote the song with Styalz Fuego, a big Australian producer. We had a second verse but it wasn’t as good as what Twelvvy came up with and he used our melody for the start to keep the flow - it just fit perfectly. The song is about losing your mind and going off the rails a little, and inviting someone to pull you back in line. We all get like this sometimes.
This is your second collab with a rapper following Red Lights with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, can we expect even more collabs in the future?
I love collage and mixing two very different artists and melodies and messages into one, it creates new and exciting music that I love being a part of. You will see a mix with me moving through.
What was your favourite part about working on this track?
The vibe and the fun of the track. You can’t listen to this song without bopping and I think Styalz captured that in the best perfectly.
