It's not often that a new artist's debut track is an exercise in restraint, with many artists instead opting for the most bombastic, party-starting, in-your-face track they have to attract the most attention right from the get-go.
But 25-year-old Yarra Valley-raised JXN (pronounced Jackson, the moniker of Jackson Brazier) has done just that with his debut cut, Solitude, a brooding, understated track that flirts with modern R&B as much as it does with electro/indie pop.
Funnily enough, despite this being his debut single, JXN already has legions of fans. Having built up a strong social following of over a million across YouTube and Instagram, JXN's spent years covering the likes of Khalid, Dennis Lloyd, Hayden James and many more. Making his own original music has always been his first love though, having picked up a guitar at 13 and setting up a home studio from 17.
"It's so crazy that I am finally getting to release my first song, after working so hard on it - it has been a process to get here to say the least but I have loved every minute of it," JXN says.
With such a strong first song in Solitude, we're pretty keen to see what JXN does next.
