Sydney-via-Melbourne alt-pop JXN is about to follow up his national run on the Allday tour with his first ever headline show in Sydney, and he's celebrating it by dropping a new song today called Just Okay.
The break-up song skirts his usual trap meets indie pop sound, this one's more introspective than his recent tracks and more like his debut song, Solitude. Instead of flexing like on Going Off or Red Lights - both featuring US rappers A$AP Twelvyy and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie respectively - Jacko Brazier finds himself wishing for a bit of space after a relationship breakdown.
He explains, "Just Okay was written one day after a break-up I went through. The mood and lyrics aren’t specifically based off that one break-up, but it made me think of people in relationships who are not feeling that great. It also made me reflect on how I may have made some of my ex-girlfriends or girls feel at certain time. I feel like everyone has the right to feel “great” not “just okay” so I really wanted to keep the messaging simple and strong.
"I wrote this with Phinisey in LA, it was the first session I had on my LA writing trip last June and I fell in love with the song more as everyday passed. So stoked to be able to put it out! And I hope it connects with people not just in relationships but in general life, it’s okay to feel “just okay” but we should all strive to feel something great."
Though this is the singer's fourth ever song, he's teased that at tomorrow's show we can expect six new unreleased songs when he hits up Sydney's Lansdowne Hotel.
