Sydney-based singer/songwriter Marshes has come back into our lives with an intimate, emotive and trademark lush new song called D.U.M.B., co-written and produced by local legend Xavier Dunn.
She wrote the song about those frustrating times you just can't seem to get the right words out when you're around someone you have feelings for. Either you word-vomit, you imply something you don't mean at all, or end up becoming a totally different person from the nerves of it all. Highly relatable.
“D.U.M.B. is when you lose your ability to articulate yourself around someone you have feelings for. Often when you’re scared to say what’s on your mind, it either never seems to come out right or you end up trying to hide the truth by overcompensating and acting the opposite of what you feel.”
D.U.M.B. follows up singles like C.B.F. and M.I.A. (Marshes clearly has a thing for acronyms, and we're wondering what D.U.M.B. actually stands for) and is clearly going from strength to strength with her indie pop songwriting, despite starting her career out DJing at major festivals like Field Day, Groovin The Moo and even Hugh Jackman's national tour.
If her Ellie Goulding-meets-Tove Lo sensibilities are anything to go by, we're extremely keen to see what Marshes comes up next A.S.A.P.
