US pop musician Gayle has taken an introspective look for her latest track, turning up the emotion for the release of god has a sense of humor.
Having been previewed at live shows in recent weeks, god has a sense of humor is a stylistic slow-down when compared to previous singles ABCDEFU or indieedgycool, yet is just as intense when it comes to the subject matter at hand.
Working with Ryan Linvall (Olivia Rodrigo, Hinds, Chloe Moriondo) and Noah Conrad (Kelsea Ballerini, Tai Verdes) on production, and co-written with Linvall and Sarah Solovay (Shawn Mendes, Jason Derulo), god has a sense of humor is a gripping piece of work which underlines Gayle's growing songcraft as she mediates on life, death, and the black comedy that is life.
"This song is about wanting to have hope, and being torn between a pessimistic and optimistic perspective on the world," Gayle explains. "Because at the end of the day, I want to believe that we’re all just doing our best."
Upon its release, social media was quick to jump on the track, labelling it as one of Gayle's best, and an indicator that she's on her way to becoming a true champion of the pop genre.
