US rapper Megan Thee Stallion has well and truly delivered something for thee hotties, with new album Traumazine arriving on Friday. Her second studio album, the record follows on from the release of 2020's Good News, and the 2021 compilation Something For Thee Hotties.
The 18-track record collects recent singles Sweetest Pie, Plan B, and Pressurelicious, along with a number of other cuts featuring the likes of Pooh Shiesty, Rico Nasty, and Jhené Aiko, in addition to big names like Future and Dua Lipa. Meanwhile, its musical focus continues the same sort of high-energy vibe curation we've come to expect from Megan, albeit with a lyrical journey that invited the listener into her deepest thoughts and touches on her journey of self-actualisation and dealing with trauma.
In a cover story interview with Rolling Stone back in June, Megan discussed her new album, explaining that she wants the record to "take you through so many different emotions".
"At first you was twerking, now you might be crying," she explained, adding that she hopes the record will cement her legacy as one of the best in the game. "I just always want people to remember, 'Yes, Megan Thee Stallion, she was great, she was a rapper. She was one of the best rappers, the coldest.'"
Meanwhile, Megan also took to YouTube to share a video focusing around the inspiration to Anxiety, explaining that the deeply personal nature of the record is one designed to underline the idea that "it’s ok to just be not ok". However, the release of the record has seen countless fans open up about how Traumazine has managed to cement Megan Thee Stallion's status as one of the most important, influential, and powerful artists on the scene today.

This new Megan Thee Stallion album is giving. It's basically a middle finger to literally ALL of the shit she's been through over the last 2 years. It's really fucking good.

funk, 808’s, dance, r&b, pop, a nod to 90s HH. anxiety and depression, sex, love, hate, betrayal. after first listen, in terms of cohesion, versatility, energy, delivery, etc, #TRAUMAZINE is — in my opinion — meg’s best full effort since “tina snow.” absolutely incredible.
