THIS IS NOT A DRILL. There's a new Metronomy album on it's way and we have the first single for your ears and eyes. The album's called Summer 08 and it's due on July 01. That's the sort of album cycle I can get behind, none of this 'drop-a-single-a-full-year-before-the-record' bollocks. If you have a dig through the track listing you'll notice that Robyn turns up on one of the tracks which I NEED TO HEAR but in lieu of that, the first single 'Old School' also has a very interesting feature, none other than Beastie Boys' Mix Master Mike. The track might be as good as any the English quartet have released prior and it already sounds like the remixes will be the shit.
But we like how the clip has rich echoes of the most cringeworthy parents party film of all time, Abigail's Party. If you don’t know it shock yourself. It's about as comfortable as a sandpaper bathtub, the sort of visual discomfort that David Brent musters at his worst moments.
“do you think he’s sexy? .. yes, but it’s a pity he’s so fat”.
