When we saw that one of the world’s criminally most underrated bands Portugal. The Man had leaked pictures of themselves in the studio over the weekend we’d be lying if we said we weren’t a tad excited. What made us even more excited was the fact that included in the pics was a mugshot of Brian Joseph Burton otherwise known as DANGER MOUSE.
COULD IT BE?? A PORTUGAL. THE MAN RECORD PRODUCED BY DANGER MOUSE?!
Well if you take a look at the recent Q&A on the PTM Tumblr page…
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. It’s not like the guys really even needed the midas touch that Danger Mouse provides and if you’ve heard their earlier material, in particular 2011’s stellar In The Mountain In The Cloud you’ll already know the deal but it’ll definitely be interesting to hear what comes out of the collaboration.
I guess only time will tell as to what the new record will sound like but with all this PTM excitement we remembered that time we filmed the guys on a windy Sydney day doing a brilliant acoustic version of So American which had a cheeky David Bowie inspired intro and then there was the outro… which was something we’d never heard before… Could it be a taste of the new album?
