Filed under the ‘from out of nowhere’ folder we give you Raury’s God’s Whisper. A spoken word hymn hung on the framework of an impressive campfire chant/ primal scream, God’s Whisper comes at us like ET, from out of space and fully formed. This latest ATLien has very little online presence (less than 1000 Facebook fans) a small but respectable amount of spins on Souncloud (17K) but a mega tune and a very slick video directed by fellow Atlanta native Andrew Donoho.
Is there some other force at play here? Someone behind the scenes pulling the strings cleverly positioning this in a space where Facebook and Soundcloud are shunned in favour of developing a excellent track along with a great video? Or have Raury and his crew simply adhered to the often overlooked age old technique of hiding away in the proverbial ‘garage’ and honing their craft until they have something that’s actually good to show the world? I really hope the latter is case… And I think it may be.
However it plays out, we expect to be hearing a lot more from this guy in the near future.
(The singer-songwriter/producer’s 10-song EP ‘Indigo Child’ is due this summer.)
