They say God is a woman - well Ariana does - and if we are to believe that then one has to wonder what this ethereal being may look like.
Thankfully, singer/producer/all-around creative Joyride has brought a vision to life for electronic duo Leftprojects' brand new song, Heaven.
Directed by the enigmatic member of the One Day crew, the video is a perfectly heavenly, somewhat trippy, portrayal of what a female higher being might look like - a huge red mane, one white iris and a halo-like gold crown, drawing inspiration from the many delicate ladies that Botticelli used to paint in the Renaissance.
Combined with the soulful vocals of Leftprojects' Sarah Corry and experimental production from Jono Graham, the result is super unique and one to remember.
The band's Sarah says, "The clip idea was borne of a need to unpack how René Descartes believed the human pineal gland was the "principal seat of the soul". According to this belief, humans had in far ancient times an actual third eye in the back of the head with a physical and spiritual function. Over time, as humans evolved, this eye atrophied and sunk into what today is known as the pineal gland. Which sounds gross but many believe it holds our third eye, now covered and kept away from the world; introverted, separate and blind."
Leftprojects are launching Heaven at a show in Sydney on May 10th, so if you'd like a spiritual experience in person, make sure you get down there.
