R.I.P B.I.G

Last month marked the 16th anniversary of The Notorious B.I.G’s death and as a result the internetz provided us with some great little B.I.G themed projects to celebrate the life and rhymes of arguably one of the greatest emcees of all-time .

First up DJ House Shoes put together a collection of remixes titled Dreams - Ten B.I.G Classics Reimagined.  Basically, he gave all his homies a zip file of Biggie acapellas and told them to do their thing. This Is the result.

Next up DJ Finesse took Biggie’s acapellas and combined them with the beats of arguably the greatest hip hop producer of all-time DJ Premier.

The duo did some stuff for reals together back when Biggie was alive including the ridiculously good Kick In The Door but it’s nice hearing two hip hop heavyweights combined to maximum effect on the mix below.

Now as good as the remixes are above, you still can’t really mess with the tracks and Biggie’s legacy in it’s original form.

So if you haven’t already, do yourself a favour and grab yourself a copy of his Greatest Hits which is a pretty good starting point in discovering just how incredible Biggie Smalls was as an emcee and it won’t take you long to realise that we were unfairly robbed of so many future jams when he left us at 24 years of age…  R.I.P B.I.G
