Hip-hop music comes faster than any other genre. It's not uncommon for a rapper to drop upwards of three projects a year and while that's great, it becomes increasingly hard to stay on top of it. 'The Rap Wrap' is our attempt to keep you in the know on the weekly. This week, you're getting a highlight from the new Future album plus an Aussie rap stormer from Tkay Maidza.
Future - Harlem Shake (Feat. Young Thug)
This ain't no Baauer re-work, it's a fresh collab from Future and Young Thug. The pair are rap visionaries and together they craft magic.
Trippie Redd & PARTYNEXTDOOR - Excitement
Trippie Redd and PARTYNEXTDOOR have both released full-length records of their own this year but now they've come together for a new track. Excitement is a glistening, soulful cut that pulls in Travis Scott's go-to producer OZ.
Youngn Lipz - Neverland
Youngn Lipz is on a sharp trajectory. After collaborating with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie earlier this year, he's dropped Neverland. It sounds like mixtape Future which is never a bad thing, offering up melodic raps over a hypnotic beat.
Tkay Maidza - Shook
Tkay Maidza only gets better and she's set a high bar on Shook. Bringing together both dance and rap influences, she delivers one of the most infectious hip-hop moments to come out of this country in years.
Migos - Racks 2 Skinny
It looks like Migos are gearing up for a new record. Racks 2 Skinny is the most focussed, potent track they've released in a while giving each three a moment to shine.
CHAII - Trouble
Persian-Kiwi CHAII has come through with a wild, inventive new rap track Trouble. The song runs to the same heartbeat of Kanye's Black Skinhead and house a ferocious energy.
Rico Nasty - My Little Alien
The SCOOB! soundtrack is surprisingly lit and it features a great Rico Nasty track. Nasty is usually known for her punk attitude but on My Little Alien she's sweet and bewildering.
