Hip-hop music comes faster than any other genre. It's not uncommon for a rapper to drop upwards of three projects a year and while that's great, it becomes increasingly hard to stay on top of it. 'The Rap Wrap' is our attempt to keep you in the know on the weekly. This week, you're getting a highlight from the Lil Baby record plus a Rico Nasty feature on a 100 Gecs remix.
Lil Baby - Live Off My Closet (Feat. Future)
One of the highest-streaming rappers around right now Lil Baby has dropped his highly anticipated album My Turn. It features this gem which sees him team with Future for the second time in as many weeks. They showed chemistry on the Life Is Good remix and now this solidifies it.
PARTYNEXTDOOR - Split Decision
It's official. PARTYNEXTDOOR's new album Partymobile will arrive on 27th March. To whet the appetite though, he's dropped off this intimate, slow-tempo cut which will no doubt have PND fans in their element.
Aminé - Shimmy
It's been a little while since we've heard from Aminé but he's back and he's declaring, "it's my year." It may well be if Shimmy is anything to go by. It's a decadent, confident flex.
Swae Lee - Someone Said
Hook-king Swae Lee is back unfolding his solo work and he's hit us with an unusually hard-hitting cut. Lee's high-pitched delivery juxtaposes the bass-heavy Shawn Ferrari beat.
Bryce Vine - Baby Girl
Vine is back, following up last year's Carnival with an instantly likeable jam Baby Girl. He's rapping over a trademark bubbly beat, hitting each accent with charisma. It's hard not to smile when Vine's involved.
100 Gecs - Ringtone (Remix Feat. Charli XCX, Kero Kero Bonito & Rico Nasty)
Genre-defying duo 100 Gecs are remixing their 2019 debut record and this is from it. While it gets some experimental pop chops from Charli XCX and Kero Kero Bonito's, it's Nasty's rock-infused verse that pricks ears up. More. Of. This. Please.
JXN - Outta Space (Feat. Allday & Fossa Beats)
Aussie newcomer JXN is back with a new cut and he's enlisted Allday for the elongated track. Allday takes the second verse, thickening the haze with a particularly intoxicating verse.
