Melbourne-based singer/songwriter Rya Park is getting ready to release her new single, NYE, which captures the feeling of being ghosted. It's a feeling that no-one enjoys experiencing, but is all-too-familiar for many.

Being ghosted is never pleasant, especially as an adult, which the song addresses. The energetic production drives the song along, but Rya's soaring vocals are given the space to shine. You'll feel this one deep in your soul, and we're excited to be premiering the track right now!

NYE is the kind of song you could sneak into a New Year's Eve playlist, as it's simultaneously upbeat and heart-wrenching. It's deeply challenging when you realise that your connection with someone only runs one way, which is why NYE will resonate with so many.

Speaking about the track, Rya says that it draws from the experience of meeting someone on New Year's Eve - only for them to disappear. She explains, “I met someone on New Year’s, and we connected so well. It’s rare to meet a friend as an adult that you get along with so well.

"We hung out here and there after, but I guess I was just more invested in building a friendship than they were. I’m not sure why it hurt enough to write a song about to be honest… I mean we barely knew each other.”

Rya's music draws from experiences with mental health, heartbreak, and the challenges that everyone faces in their 20s. Long-time collaborator Sam Phay's production on NYE lifts the mood, while Rya's lyrics are totally relatable (even if you might not want them to be).

Sam and Rya make a formidable duo, and there is plenty more music in their future. She's preparing to release her debut EP, everything we want, which is scheduled to drop in April 2022, but for now, check out NYE above!
