Kevin Parker has finally talked about new Tame Impala material saying that he aims to get the new record out by this time next year.
He told Beats 1 that he'd be "very disappointed" if it weren't out by then and that he's ready to start playing new songs live.
The band have a few festival dates planned for this year but it's likely they won't be playing any new music as Parker prefers for people to hear the recorded version before the live one.
“I like that the first time people hear it is the kind of recorded glory, like the premeditated thing that I’ve spent two years on, rather than being half drunk bashing it out on stage, hitting clanger notes,” he said.
Parker also talked briefly about the project he was working on with Mark Ronson and SZA which has never seen the light of day.
He said he “can’t really do anything more than hope” that it comes out and said there's one song that's most likely to be released called Back Together. That song was debuted during a DJ set he did with Ronson at Governors Ball last year.
