    Tayla Parx

Beyond Tayla Parx dropping sleek little bops like I Want You herself, writing for Ariana Grande (which is perhaps well-known, as Ariana is Tayla's biggest cheerleader) and starring in films when she was younger, Tayla has a LOT going for her.

One of her lesser known qualities is the fact that she's a prolific co-writer, having helped pen tracks for some of today's biggest stars, including Janelle Monae, Anderson .Paak, Alicia Keys, BTS, Panic! At The Disco, The Internet and more. The list is long but we feel like Tayla's songwriting credentials need a spotlight, so here are 5 songs you probably didn't know she helped write.

khalid & normani - love lies

One of last year's most romantic duets, Khalid and Normani dropped Love Lies as part of the Love Simon soundtrack but in the studio along with the pair was Tayla Parx (and two others, Jamil Chammas and Ryan Vojtesak). The song was a bonafide hit, landing Khalid and Normani at the Billboard Music Awards to perform as well as on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

the presets - out of your mind (feat alison wonderland)

It's not just international acts that Tayla has lent her talents too - she's also worked with Aussie dance duo legends The Presets and Alison Wonderland on the track Out Of Your Mind, on The Presets' most recent album Hi Viz. It's testament to her breadth of talent that she can go from writing for pop royalty like Mariah Carey, Fergie and Christina Aguilera to working with some dance icons.

anderson. paak - tints (feat Kendrick Lamar)

Instantly iconic - not just for the song but its rad video - Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar dropped TINTS in October last year to lots of acclaim. It was the first taste we got of Paak's last album Oxnard and it did not disappoint, but among the song's co-writers (including Kendrick and Syd from The Internet) was Tayla. We wish we knew which parts exactly she contributed but we do know that you can hear her on additional vocals on the track.

janelle monae - pynk (feat GRIMES)

Tayla's a champion of feminist tunes so it's no surprise she contributed to perhaps the loudest display of feminine energy on Janelle Monae's PYNK. Co-written by Janelle, GRIMES, Tayla and a couple of other producers, the song also interpolates Aerosmith's song Pink so lists the band's Steven Tyler and Richard Goodman as co-writers too. We see a lot of similarity between the bright aesthetics of Tayla's music and Janelle's actually - and we're pretty sure working together is the cause of that. Tayla also has writing credits on I Got The Juice, I Like That and Don't Judge Me.

    ariana grande - my everything

Ariana gave Tayla her very first songwriting credit back in 2014 on her second studio album on the title track. It was the start of an amazing friendship with the young pop icon, and now Tayla and Ariana have worked together on stacks of stuff together, including thank u, next, 7 Rings (presumably she's one of the seven friends Ariana took to Tiffany & Co and wrote the song about!), NASA and Ghostin

Tayla Parx is about to drop her debut album We Need To Talk on April 5th, now that you know about her songwriting skills, make sure you keep an ear out for her album!
