Taylor Swift surprised everyone when she went indie, teaming up with The National's Aaron Dessner for folklore.
It seems the musical relationship will be ongoing though with Dessner revealing that Swift has played a part in his forthcoming Big Red Machine project.
If you need a memory jog, Big Red Machine is the collaborative project from Dessner and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon. They dropped their self-titled debut album in 2018.
In an interview with Billboard, Dessner revealed that Swift has heard some of the material from the album and has been helping out.
"There were fireworks, musically, between us," Dessner said about their experience together making folklore.
He was then asked whether there was any of his own material that he didn't want to hand over to Swift during the process which sparked him to talk about Big Red Machine.
"The Big Red Machine stuff is quite far along," he said before continuing, "Taylor has been amazing [at giving feedback]. I’ve shared all of that stuff with her, and she has been really helpful."
As Stereogum point out, Dessner said the next Big Red Machine album will feature, "a lot more voices," than the first.
Billboard asked whether we should expect Swift to be on it and he replied, "I can’t really say, so I guess I’ll say neither yes nor no."
We'll take that as a yes. After Exile with Bon Iver emotionally ruined us we're ready to be destroyed once again.
