Metronomy's fifth album 'Summer '08' comes just two years after the release of their last album Love Letters - a relatively short gap for the band who have often taken sizeable breaks in between. Written and recorded solely by frontman Joseph Mount, it's the most straight-up record he's ever made brimming with throwback pop tunes that find melodic brilliance in simplicity. From the vintage groove of lead single Old Skool to the quaint pop of 16 Beat, Mount's made a record that's nostalgic, silly and danceable. He's pulled from his own influences and created something that never feels overthought.
It's the funnest thing to be delivered in 10 tracks this year and to help you dive into it, we've put together a handy guide that breaks down the features, influences and key tracks with a few dorky facts along the way because that's the way Mount would want it.
