    POSTED

Themes For Young Lovers is a new series we’re starting up on Cool Accidents where we’ll be getting artists, DJs, bloggers and music nerds to answer a series of questions about all things love related highlighting their favourite songs to hold hands, kiss, make babies, breakup or nurse a broken heart to.

First up to kiss and tell is Sydney lad Mike Who, who apart from being one hell of a DJ is also a total sucker for love as shown by his two killer love themed mixes the latest of which you can peep at the bottom of this post.

    Over to you Mike!

    Name – Mike Who

LocationFrom Sydney but have been in the far North of Chile with my lady for the last ten or so months.

Name 3 songs that would be no-brainers to put on a mixtape for that special someone you were trying to woo –

    1. Tony Cook Feat Dam-Funk- What’s On Your Mind. Stones Throw coming correct with this future classic love jam. This song would more or less let that special someone know that they are indeed on your mind. 2. The Isley Brothers- Between The Sheets. No brainer which hints in a not so subtle way that your down to get in between the sheets. 3. Champion Lover by Shabba Ranks. This would hopefully brainwash that special someone I was courting into the hope that they were hooking up with a Champion Lover..Or Not!

You’ve turned the lights down low, lit the candles and poured the Dom Perignon, what LP goes on the stereo?

To be totally truthful I’m not really the type of dude to have a specific LP to get familiar to, But it would be pretty hard to go past The Never Too much album by Luther Vandross.

What is your fave romantic film of all time?
Hurricane Streets and or Groundhog Day.

You’ve just had your heart broken, what’s the song that you play to ease the pain and get you through?
Modern Man’s Hustle by Atmosphere was my emotional high school jam. But I think I would consider Used to Love You by John Legend. Also Love Will Bring Us Back Together by Roy Ayers if I’m feeling I’ve got a chance to patch things up.

What song was or would be a contender to be played during the first dance at your wedding?

    Debarge’s I Like It.

Who do you think has played the biggest part in helping increase the world’s population over the years?

I Think Stevie Wonder would be a heavyweight contender on the baby making tip, but I’m pretty sure Teddy Pendergrass would have done his fair share to increase the birthrate during his time. R.I.P Teddy.

and finally, What’s your fave guilty pleasure/cheesiest love song?

I have a high tolerance for cheddar based love jams but the ultimate would be Bobby Brown - Every Little Step. I wish I had the stones to play this in every set simply for the looks from angry dudes, contemplating how to dance to it and still make move on ladies without looking awkward.

And now for some music! The mix is a selection of some of my favorite tunes based on the theme of love, spanning everything from Soul, Funk, Hip Hop and RnB to Garage, Bass, Disco and New Jack Swing, with of course a side serve of shameless cheese and features artists like D'Angelo, Barry White, Lauren Hill, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Color Me Badd, Al Green, Aaliyah & heaps more, Enjoy!
