New Zealand-bred, LA-based indie pop maverick Thomston has followed up 2018's winning singles The Heights and Acid Rain with another absolute bop today called Lightweight.
Arriving with a retro-filmed visualiser, Lightweight is a modern day love song about forgetting your boundaries, losing your limits, falling totally head over heels for someone you really want to impress.
"Lightweight is about meeting someone you go the extra mile to impress even if it means being self-destructive. Someone you want a little more confidence around. Someone who makes you almost forget you’re horribly allergic to alcohol."
It's a strong metaphor and shows Thomston's innate ability into writing lyrics that are so deceptively simple and so insanely relatable. We've all been in Thomston's shoes and he knows it.
It seems like this is the start of a new chapter for Thomston as the 23-year-old establishes himself in LA surrounded by his creative mates, and we're liking how it looks on him.
If you're not too familiar with Thomston, Cool Accidents spent some time with him last year taking him vintage shopping for one of his trademark billowy outfits, check it out below.
