There's huge news coming out of triple j headquarters, with the announcement that after three years current Breakfast show hosts Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton will finish up on November 1st to pursue other opportunities in Adelaide.
Talking about their time at triple j, the duo said, “We’ve had an absolute blast at triple j. Never in our wildest dreams did we think two dweebs doing community radio in Adelaide would get a crack at a gig like this. Thanks for waking up with us, listening to our shit talk and sharing your stories, we’ll be forever grateful.”
The pair are set to be replaced by Sally Coleman and Erica Mallett, who have been part of triple j for a few years now. Most recently, they took over Weekend Arvos in 2018, but have previously hosted Breakfast, Drive, Good Nights, The Hip Hop Show, House Party and Summer Arvos - pretty much every slot on triple j.
Talking about the move, the pair said, “We love making radio that makes you feel like you're just chatting with your friends. We're really pumped to get your stories, discover new stuff together, nerd out about music, and talk about the real shit and the dumb shit. Think Oprah Winfrey meets Flight of The Conchords.”
When they're not on air, the pair perform as Canberra hip-hop duo Coda Conduct, who have performed at the likes of Groovin The Moo, Spilt Milk, Listen Out and Splendour in the Grass. The pair are gearing up to release their second EP soon, Other People's Problems.
The next fortnight will be spent saying goodbye to Ben and Liam, with Lucy Smith presenting from November 4th, taking over for the rest of 2019.
