Ohio alt-rock duo Twenty One Pilots are known for the expansive concepts and highly fleshed out storylines surrounding their music. Not one release comes without a deeper meaning - remember the DEMA world surrounding their last album Trench? - and now their latest song Level Of Concern has sent their biggest fans diving into a gargantuan puzzle, sprawled all over the internet.
We're definitely not going into the detail of it all (the cryptic shit runs deep), but it all started with a YouTube live stream that had a very mysterious code on it, along with directions to head to usb.twentyonepilots.com.
From there, fans were told they could unlock 20 virtual USB drives in total which "leads to something special".
The clues to unlock each drive have been wilder than the last - from looking at image source codes for geographical coordinates, which lead to buildings that spell out more code, to Honda bike model numbers, to decoding Morse code, it's been insane to watch fans clamour to solve the intricate puzzle which gets progressively more difficult.
If you'd like to check out the insane difficulty of these puzzles, a group of TOP fans have documented how they unlocked each of the 19 drives so far in this Google Doc. We're all still waiting for the final code and final drive, unlocking the big surprise.
It's pretty clear that Twenty One Pilots have unreal attention to detail and love to give their fans something to invest in, not to mention how cool it is to see the ridiculous skill and speed with which a largely young, female audience have decoded it all - we love to see it.
