Anderson .Paak was one of the many artists in the hip hop and rap community that Mac Miller influenced greatly and .Paak gave a heartfelt speech honouring the rapper, who died earlier this year at the age of 26, at the BET Hip Hop Awards this week.
Referring to Mac as a legend, .Paak said, "Mac Miller did more in 26 years than some of y’all can do in three lifetimes. He never hesitated to extend his hand to the people he loved, and was responsible for putting on so many artists. He not only influenced me but a whole new generation of new, creative, independent artists.”
The tribute was touching and personal, but also resonated deeply with the crowd who were cheering pretty much the whole time. If you look closely, you can see that .Paak's also wearing a shirt with Mac's last album cover Swimming on it.
He finishes with, "Mac Miller will live on forever. YES LORD! We love you Mac!"
