A name you might be hearing more of soon is Xavier Dunn, the Sydney-based singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who has been killin' it in basically every facet of the music industry over the last couple of years.
Today he's released his new single You Lately and it's a love song "wrapped in realised narcissism, drugs and fighting”. We're so into it we decided to delve into Xavier Dunn a little more.
His most famous cover is probably his romantic, string section-led acoustic version of Iggy Azalea's Fancy, a flip which has over 14 million streams on Spotify. Last year he dropped the Isic Tutor EP but recently, he's been working on a new supergroup called OK Moon with mates Dustin Tebbutt, LANKS and Hayden Calnin with their debut single Loved You Right turning heads all over the industry.
On the behind-the-scenes side, Xavier's super talented too - he's toured in Jack River's band as well as with GRAACE and Carmada. He's also worked on songs like KLP's Venus x Mars, CXLOE's Monster, Dylan Joel's Run To The River, Jack River's Fool's Gold and even Pitbull, R Kelly and Austin Mahone's Dedicated, among many more.
He comes from a family full of musicians, he tells Pilerats. "I def wouldn’t be where I am without being surrounded by music in all its facets. I used to hate piano lessons, and when I was in year 6, I chucked a tantrum and was like “I don’t wanna learn shitty Mozart” to my dad, who was teaching me piano at the time. I soon realised I had a knack for it, a feel that it came easily to me... So when I was in year 7, I would always do things that would benefit my ‘soon-to-be’ music career."
Basically the dude is hella prolific with his fingers in a LOT of musical pies and we're just waiting for more new tunes like You Lately.
Here's a playlist full of all the songs Xavier's either released, produced, co-written or featured on in some way and there's a lot of bangers in here. Get acquainted!
