We’ve just put together a playlist of cover versions that we’ve discovered on our many Soundcloud explorations… So still a good time!

As the youngest of three siblings and with parents that had distinct musical tastes I had a fat chance of getting my music played at home.  So as a result I was influenced by/had to endure…………

With a Dad born in 1921, big band/swing was all the go with Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and Glenn Miller getting a 78’s run….

As has been reported with appropriate thoroughness in the music media worldwide, longtime Stooges drummer Scott “Rock Action” Asheton – the handsomest man in rock’n’roll ever says this red-blooded Aussie bloke – sadly passed away on March 15.

In the year that was, the one that just ended, the best things for me were those that inhabited the Wagnerian prime zone of “total work of art”. That is, music was part of an artistic eco-culture – a big part but just a part none the less.

Three “moments” spoke to this aesthetic in particular.

Well sort of… BBC can only keep their episodes up for a certain amount of time online so if you snooze you lose. Earlier this year we fell in love with Barry the Platypus and this brilliant TV advert below put together by the clever folks at D O M & N I C.

 

At the moment I am really enjoying “Oh Yes We Can Love: A History of Glam Rock”. It’s a nice reminder of times like these:
