Hooo boy. We think maybe Ariana Grande needs to stop and think about her tats a little bit longer before she gets them inked.
The pop star has tons of small, intricate bits of ink on her body - including a number of Pete Davidson-related ones that she has started to cover up - but now she's gone and gotten herself one relating to her latest single, 7 Rings.
Problem is, the Japanese kanji characters are being mistranslated in a LOT of different ways.
Her fans on Twitter have pointed out that she has left out some characters, making the characters on her palm read 'Japanese style BBQ grill' rather than '7 rings' as she intended.
indeed, i left out “” which should have gone in between. it hurt like fuck n still looks tight. i wouldn’t have lasted one more symbol lmao. but this spot also peels a ton and won’t last so if i miss it enough, i’ll suffer thru the whole thing next time.

Ariana agreed she made a mistake, stating, "indeed, i left out “” which should have gone in between."
Ariana also adds that the character could be interpreted as 'circle' and 'tambourine' too, though others have pointed out that the characters in Chinese do in fact mean '7 rings'.
It's all a bit of a mess and we're hoping Ariana has #noragrets about this one.
Maybe they were mistaken but (qilun) is definitely chinese and it means 7 wheels/rings.

yea it’s also like “circle” apparently. and also “tambourine” apparently. i’m down for all of the above.

okay quick rundown: japanese kanji uses traditional chinese characters for its writing system and they share many similar though not all the same meanings. they are pronounced completely differently because the two languages are different.
