Ever since the film Monster debuted at the Sundance Film Festival back in 2018, fans have been clamouring for it. It's set to hit Netflix next month, and we couldn't be more excited.
The film, which was executive produced by Nas, Swizz Beatz and Jeffrey Wright, features A$AP Rocky and Nas in starring roles. Nas is playing an inmate in the film, while Rocky features as William King.
A trailer for the film has just dropped, so we're able to get a glimpse of the roles the rap stars will be playing. It's a dark, gritty trailer, so we're expecting great things from the film.
Monster is an adaptation of Walter Dean Myers' novel of the same name. The story is centred around 17-year-old Harlem honours student Steve Harmon, who is convicted of murder. It's a legal drama, and you'll have to watch to find out what happens next.
During the filming of Monster, Rocky actually ended up breaking his nose. Speaking to Collider, director Anthony Mandler told the story of how it happened. "Because we’re making a small movie and because we have method actors, they did the robbery and all their stunts, which is like a vicious fight scene.
"So the gentleman who plays the bodega owner who gets murdered is a very big, tough guy. Like a Spanish, uptown, 260-pound [guy]. So [Rocky] and John David come in and we just go, and it’s a full-bore wrestling fight with a gun flying all over the place, and actually on one of the takes Rocky broke his nose."
