Australian R&B/soul newcomer Budjerah has just dropped a double dose of good news, announcing his debut self-titled EP is on the way, as well as releasing a new single.
The EP is set to drop on March 26th, and to tide fans over until then, he's released the Matt Corby-produced Higher, which is a celebration of good times.
Budjerah says, "Higher is an ode to fun, it’s a celebration of happiness when life is stress and worry-free. I was sitting in my room one afternoon playing my guitar, the sunlight was shining through my window, and the chords and the hook just came to me.
"I was having a really good week, I felt like having a party and that feeling came out in a song. I had a session with Matt Corby the next week, so I showed him what I had and he really liked it and he helped me finish writing the lyrics and we gave it that '70s disco vibe."
Given the events of 2020 and 2021, Higher will take your stresses away, if only for a moment. His vocals carry the track, while the production elevates your emotions. It's hard to walk away from this track feeling down.
Budjerah and Matt have formed a strong friendship, and they've been working closely together to push Budjerah's sound further. Matt's classically trained, and he's using that wisdom to help Budjerah reach his full potential.
