Brisbane-based R&B artist Kedus has returned with his new single, Ballroom Bop, and it's set to get you moving. Driven along by Kedus' velvety vocals and hypnotic guitar, the song is a celebration of meeting someone that you instantly connect with, and the electricity that both people feel in the moment.
The song follows on from previous singles Sunset Dream and Konjo, and is another reminder of Kedus' ability to bring together a range of genres to create truly exciting music. While his music is grounded in R&B, there are elements of funk in here that take the track to the next level.
Speaking about the track, Kedus explains, "My bro Soulis cooked up the beat and sent it to me and as soon as I heard it I loved it. I then recorded a melody at my stu and wrote to it and then re-recorded the vocals, and this came out of it.”
The song is accompanied by a video that was created alongside frequent collaborator JAEN. It's a throwback to old-Hollywood, and it adds an extra layer to the song. The video captures the vibes of a great night out, before slowing down and showing the aftermath. It's a reminder that often what goes up does come down, with Kedus teasing the downbeat and melancholy She'll Be Right in the second half of the video.
