Earlier this week, lucky British festivalgoers heard the very first live outing of a new Spice Girls' remix from Charli XCX and our modern pop savior has now confirmed that we'll be copping the official release this week.
Written with Diplo and Herve Pagez, the song is definitely called Spicy and basically uplifts the famous '90s girl gang's Wannabe. It's perfect timing too - Spice Girls minus Victoria Beckham have just hit the road for a long awaited reunion arena tour.
We're loving Charli's acceptance of the "pop genius" title we've rightly given her over the years and she took to Twitter to confirm the song in trademark cheeky Charli style.
looked up to the pop gods & they said “Charli - you’re the chosen one: honor the spice girls’ return with a mind blowing version of one of their iconic smash hits” & I said “k no probs hun I got this” so I called @diplo & @hervepagez & SPICY was born. On top of that, Nasty Cherry, the new band she's been working closely with dropped a new tune overnight called What Do You Like In Me and it comes with another post-punk/retro-themed music video featuring some sort of goth dinner party we'd love to be a party of.
Charli has been creative directing, writing with and "masterminding" the Nasty Cherry project - she's even signed the quartet to her label Vroom Vroom Recordings.
You know what they say - the devil works hard but Charli XCX works harder.
