Jay Watson - best known as a member of Tame Impala and POND, as well as his solo project GUM - has linked up with his POND bandmate Ginoli to take Dual’s deep kaleidoscopic cut Lately I Don’t Know to a whole new level.
The pair infuse DUAL’s lush indietronica with their signature jittery synths and jarring reverberations. The perfect synergy between these artists reflects the urgency for solidarity and unity called upon in the song itself.
As Dual say, “Don't shut down, don't turn away, just listen."
A far more instrumental version in comparison with the original, Gum & Ginoli’s new remix takes you on a journey. It’s a slow, propulsive build, powered by a loop of Dual front man Maurice Miller’s spine-tingling vocals.
Buckle up, because if a song could have psychedelic effects on the body, this track would probably need a warning label.
30 seconds in and we’re dreaming of sinking an ice-cold bevvy during a heady day set at Splendour, sweat dripping off the skin, swaying in the blistering heat.
We’ve all been missing live music in recent months and we can confirm, seeing Dual live is a spiritual experience. If you’re in Auckland, you’re in luck.
The Kiwi lads will be performing at Galatos on August 14th. With a stacked line-up of support including Leaping Tiger, Indyah, Hollywoo DJs and Lew & Ro, you don’t want to miss this visual-auditory feast. Scoop up your tickets here.
Dual have gone from strength to strength in 2020 with their local radio hit Running Around My Head also recently scoring a tasty remix from house music heroes Otosan.
These Kiwi floor-fillers are certainly ones to watch.
