Rising UK pop musician Griff has covered Lorde's Solar Power, and we can't get enough of it. She's taken the sun-kissed song sprinkled in some electronic elements, transforming the acoustic feel of the original into something that'll get hearts racing.
The cover, which was recorded as part of Griff's Spotify Singles release, also features a slightly altered version of One Night, her most recent single. It's a double dose of Griff goodness, and we're digging her take on Lorde's comeback track.
Speaking about the cover, Griff explains, “The recording process for Spotify Singles started with just me in my music room. I reproduced the Lorde song, changed up the chords, did new drums, just had fun playing around with it. We went in for a rehearsal day to make One Night and Solar Power come to life before heading to Rak Studios to record it.
“It felt great to do a new version of my single One Night and I chose to cover Lorde because she is such an inspiration – I’m just a day one fan. I’ve been waiting for her to come back for a long time so as soon as I heard Solar Power, and I loved it so much, I knew I wanted to cover it.”
It's not the first time Griff's spoken about her love of Lorde, telling MTV, “I always say that I love like, Lorde. I think when I was just getting into production and songwriting, Banks and HAIM and Taylor Swift – those are my line-up of inspirational females.”
