10 years ago today, Kanye West released Stronger, the Daft Punk-sampling single off his third album Graduation, which means it's also 10 years since he re-introduced the shutter shade.
Kanye donned these very impractical 'sunglasses' in the video for the track custom made by French-Armenian designer Alain Mikli and gave way to years of fluro fakes. It didn't take long from the time of release for market sellers from Glebe, Sydney to Kuta Beach, Bali to start producing these things in mass because apparently people love impracticality as much as Yeezy.
10 years later, if you search hard enough, you'll probably still be able to pick yourself up a pair. And today. Just today. We won't judge you if you make that decision.
Yeezy wasn't the first one to wear these glasses. They rose to popularity in the early '80s but the they rightfully went out of fashion. Kanye resurrected them because he's the messiah of modern fashion.
Thanks Yeezy.
Oh also, Happy Birthday Stronger. We very much enjoy you when you're the only Kanye song the DJ has.
