It’s not everyday that a legendary Australian artist stops by your office and belts out a few tunes, but the other day at Cool Accidents HQ that’s just what happened.
National icon John Williamson came in and treated us to a handful of tracks off his forthcoming album ‘The Big Red’ and had us all hanging off every single word that he sung/spoke.
Midway through his set it dawned on me that John’s story telling was in a weird way reminiscent of some of my favourite hip hop artists and by the end I was convinced he was sort of like the Jay-Z of Australian country music scene.
John was also nice enough to take 5 to tell us his 5 fave places around Australia and here they are in no particular order -
BROOME, Western Australia
“Broome is all about the colours for me, with white sand on one beach and red on another”
MARGARET RIVER, Western Australia
“Wine, surf & fishing… what more do you need?”
FLINDERS RANGES, South Australia
“The best place for some good bush tucker and a schooner of Carlton Draught with a piece of lemon in it is at the Prairie Hotel in Parachilna”
MT WARNING, Queensland
“I love the beautiful rainforests in the area”
SYDNEY, New South Wales
“The gateway to the country with a never ending list of things to do”
