Renowned film director, producer, screenwriter, author, overachiever Harmony Korine is known for his weird and quirky cult indie films such as Gumbo, Trash Humpers, Mister Lonely and of course Kids and he is getting set to return to the big screen this May with his latest project Spring Breakers which has a lot of people excited and based on the NSFW video trailer below, probably has an equal number of people (read parents of potential real life Spring Breakers) concerned.
Booze - Check, Drugs - Check, Scantily clad babes/strippers - Check, Firing guns - Check, Foul language - Check, Gucci Mane! - Check, Skrillex beats - Check (In fact ol’ Skrill-dog has scored the entire soundtrack which will be available to download on the 8th of March and will feature 8 unreleased Skrillex joints as well as tunes by Cliff Martinez who scored Drive which was arguably the best OST of the past 5 years with due respect to Django Unchained of course!)
It goes without saying we’re pretty pumped for it, if only for seeing James Franco as the corn row and dem grillz rockin’ Alien… OK well that and the scantily clad babes.
To celebrate we thought we’d put together a bunch of Harmony’s music videos he’s been involved with and just like a lot of his films they are weird as f#$!, super low budget (maybe not the Sonic Youth one with the kid from Home Alone) and imperfect (Come on! I had to loop back to my clever post title somehow)
Anyways… hit the jump below to see the wonderful weirdness that he directed for The Black Keys, Sonic Youth, Cat Power & Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy as well as the Bjork track he co-wrote the lyrics for.
