Narduwar (aka The Human Serviette) has made it his sworn duty to know everything there is to know about musicians, and in a recent interview with J. Cole, he brought up the topic of Kendrick Lamar.
Speaking to J. Cole, Narduwar asked him if J. Cole was the person that told Dr. Dre about Kendrick. He replied. “Who told you that? Who gave you that piece of information?"
"The answer is, yes. I did. I’m not gonna say I was the first to tell him [...] I was like, ‘Yo, you gotta sign this kid from Compton.” A member of Dr. Dre's team was aware of Kendrick at the time of discussion with J. Cole, and he'd go onto sign him in 2013 to his Aftermath imprint.
J. Cole also revealed that he would have loved to have signed Kendrick after hearing his music - that's how impressed he was. He told Narduwar, “100 percent. I don’t know what I would’ve signed him to, you know what I mean?"
"We didn’t have our business intact, but that’s how much I rocked with him at that time. I met him, and instantly was highly impressed. That would’ve been the first artist in my mind [to sign], but come to find out, he had bigger shit going on.”
