Janelle Monáe has released her first single since her Grammy-nominated 2018 album Dirty Computer, and it's blown us away.

Her new single, Turntables, is a powerful, politically-charged song that sees her calling out injustice. Her vocals are inspiring and passionate, and it's got us ready to push for change.

Speaking about the song with Zane Lowe, Janelle says, "We are changing things. The tables are turning. The rooster has come home to roost. So this song is capturing direction.

"And when you think about a record, when you think about a record spinning, when you think about the revolutions per minute, it's all connected. And that is what this song means."

The new song features in a new Amazon documentary which looks at voting registration and electoral laws in America. All In: The Fight For Democracy is sure to spark some important conversations in the lead-up to the US election.

It's out on September 18th, and will illuminate “the often overlooked, yet insidious issue of voter suppression in the United States in anticipation of the 2020 Presidential Election."
