A queen in a film about queens!
Janelle Monae's really going hard on Hollywood at the moment (despite being at her peak musically with Dirty Computer), today announcing that she's joining the cast of a new Gloria Steinem biopic called The Glorias: A Life On The Road.
Monae will be playing Dorothy Pitman Hughes, civil rights activist who launched Ms Magazine with Steinem.
The film about the prominent American feminist will also star Alicia Vikander and Julianne Moore and will add to Janelle's growing list of film credentials, including Hidden Figures and Moonlight. Soon she'll be lending her voice to The Lady And The Tramp and Harriet, a biopic on 19th century civil rights activist Harriet Tubman.
Go Janelle!
